Adult Psychiatric and Chemical Dependency Services
In today's frenzied society, we all face stress, anxiety and mild depression.
That's normal. But what do you do when you find that you can no longer cope?
What do you do when you experience unwanted behaviors or feel disassociated from
family, friends, co-workers and even yourself?
When emotional problems render an adult incapable of normal functioning in the
home or work environment, then it is time to seek professional help. Through our
confidential, structured program, adults with emotional problems are returning
to the mainstream, better equipped to cope with life's challenges.
A Multi-Disciplinary
Treatment Approach
When an adult joins our safe, nurturing environment, he or she receives the
benefits of our diverse team of therapists, which may include psychiatric
nurses, psychologists, social workers, family counselors, patient counselors,
activities therapists, teachers and aftercare counselors, all working under the
direction of a physician. This team orientation optimizes success by bringing
numerous clinical perspectives to the forefront.
Therapy Individual to the
Patient's Needs
We do not treat problems; we treat individuals. The patient and family are
encouraged to participate in the initial evaluation process, working with our
clinical professionals to develop a comprehensive profile and history. An
individualized treatment plan is then developed for each patient. Attainable
short-and long-term treatment goals are established, so that progress can be
measured. Our multi-disciplinary treatment team works closely with the staff
psychiatrist and referring professional. Treatment focuses on helping the
patient to identify the emotions and correct the behaviors that have created
problems in his or her life.
Strong Components for
Healing
A comfortable, homelike atmosphere allows for positive interaction, problem
resolution and personal growth. Each patient participates in individual, group
and activities therapy on a regular basis. Group therapy provides a milieu in
which the patient can share feelings and experiences with others who have
similar problems. The community environment encourages patients to cultivate
trusting relationships with one another and the staff. The patient is evaluated
not only by the treatment team, but by his or her peers in the program; this
provides feedback and encouragement for progress.
Activities therapy provides the adult with optional avenues for expression.
In addition, activities foster group interaction and often awaken personal
talents.
Family Involvement
Family therapy is an integral part of treatment. Family members are encouraged
to bring into the open and resolve the frustrations and hostilities that have
developed. New lines of communication are opened that will lead to a more
integrated, well-adjusted family unit.
Support After Discharge
After inpatient care is complete, a strong follow-up program ensures that the
much needed support continues. A series of outpatient sessions in which patients
continue to explore their feelings, especially regarding reintegration into the
home and work environment, is often indicated. We also work with the patient's
private therapist in order to facilitate a smooth transition from inpatient to
outpatient care.
